Default BODY CONTROL MODULE

2001 LHS, has odd/ intermittent electrical issues. Dealer tells us that the body control module is bad, wants $700 to replace or can reprogram for $150. Of course there is no guarantee that this will work,
How/ why does this need reprograming? Where is it located? please help!
