Question Concorde 2nd Gen Rack and Pinion Problems

I am interested in buying a second gen Concorde (1998-2001). I always liked those cars. Anyway, I went to CarProblems.com and it has listed the 2000 Intrepid as one of the worst cars ever built. As you know, it was built on the same platform as the Concorde. Most concerning is the information regarding the steering/rack and pinion issues. Years ago, many LH platform car owners had to replace the rack and pinion in their cars multiple times due to "loose" steering, loss of steering control and constant misalignment issues leading to numerous serious accidents. Apparently, the LH cars have serious steering design flaws that Chrysler refused to ever acknowledge or fix.

Was this a common safety problem for Concorde, Intrepid, LHS and 300M, and if so was a solution/fix ever found? Or is this a common problem for these cars to this day? Thanks in advance!

The main issue was the rack bushings where the tie rods attach to the rack would fail. Pretty easy fix they have kits with better bushings instead of the old rubber ones.

Thank you for the info. Is this a kit I would only buy from a Chrysler dealer? Who makes this kit and do I buy it from a parts store like Autozone?

It is a wear item concern for Maintenance not a major defect/ design flaw as some would say.
My 2002 with 275000 miles on it, has had 3 or 4 bushing kits installed over the years.
Moog kit with bolts under $25 from Rock Auto does the trick.
www.300Mclub.org has tons of info for your LH series car
