Default engine light

Check engine light came on 2 days ago, and I got a code 0456. I inspected the hoses under the hood and found one that was not connected. I'm pretty surethis is thecause for my engine light to be on. Anyhow, I fixed the hose but the light is still on. The tech at autozone said something about the computer resetting itself but he wasn't sure how long it would take. He guessed that I would have the drive the car at least 50 miles for the light to go off. Is there any truth to this, or does this mean that something else is going on with my car? I was under the impression that the light would go off if the problem was fixed.

Hello,

It takes several drive cycles for the code to correct itself. I had a similar issue (cracked hose) and when I replaced it, after about 2 days of driving, the light went out by itself. Good luck...

hey Bill ,It takes 3 good global trips for the light to go out, it has to see you corrected the problem by looking at the temp, speed ,gear, etc, all common factors that were in play when the light was triggered.before it will turn off.moe.
