Start issue
I have 98 concord with 145k miles.
My car has starting problem. First, when i turn KEY-ON position, it shows oil pressure warning but NO Check engine light. Then when i turn key from KEY-ON to START position, I can hear ( Click, Click) or (Half-engine turn Hurr-Hurr ). Sometimes hurt-hurr will actually turn/crank completely and start engine.
While it is doing (click, click) or (Hurr-Hurr) , it displays ABS check light on, which does turn off after 5 seconds..with every attempt ,it will cycle (START-click-ABS light).
Car was having half-hearted starting symptom from last 9 months. The fact is that in the past, i had to then keep key in START position( spring loaded action) for extra 5-10 seconds would crank engine.
I had battery tested yesterday at advance auto parts. Results show starter and alternator good. battery was 12.5V & 460 CCA(800 rated Amp). Now a days its hot here. Don't think CCA will matter. Swapped battery with buddy on his truck. His truck run good with my battery. His battery could not start my car. Battery swap, did not fix issue.
Every one i talk to said, its STATOR/Solenoid. Thereafter, We could get 3-bolts off from starter but when we pulled get starter off, we could not get enough space to pull starter out from the car. For the time-being we had put stator back in position as it was.
Tried to start the car again. However same story.....
will appreciate your help.....!!!!!

I say s the battery. Here is why when you took it to be tested you drive it over there right? And after driving it there doe it still have the same starting issues after you drive it ? or only after sitting for awhile? And CCA is not only for cold its any time Amps moves motors volts provide pressure. Would you hook a garden hose up to a fire truck? NO you wont because teh fire truck has alot of volume it can put out which is the same as amps. So only real way to correctly test your battery is to Test it when been sitting over night. Driving it to any place to have it tested it will get charged back up and show good.

1) i hocked extra-gauge to wire negative battery terminal to trans mount ground. That could not help.
2) I pulled up stator motor relay in fuse box & wire connected 30 & 87 with key in ON position. I could hear strong clicks...click, click, click....
Any advise from here on.....!!!!!

Toyota/Chrysler/Mitsubishi - Nippon Denso Starter Solenoid Repair
This may help.
460 CCA out of a battery rated for 800 is Junk
To remove the starter you need to remove the left side motor mount and bracket. Support the engine with a jack and block of wood.

1) I have 670 CCA month old new-battery purchased for another vehicle, I will be swapping that to cross-verify amperage hypothesis ...
2) Any idea why it would not flash check engine light on Key-ON position?
3) What could be another failure mode apart from starter saga, which i should not under estimate. If i'm unable, it will end up toed to dealer.
