Default 01 sebring 2.7 weird grinding.

So my car just started grinding at 900-1100 rpms. Does it in park sometimes but mainly in drive when I accelerate from stops or things. Also does it when I slow down to a stop sign. It almost sounds like the transmission but the fluid is fine and I just did a service on it. I also did an oil change and and fixed my cooking system not too long ago. I'm lost. I can provide more information if you need. Anyone have any ideas?

If it matters I also have a lifter ticking. Nothing major, tried to fix it with sefoam before the oil change and substituting a quart of oil with rislone but it's still ticking. It did start doing it when I messed with the cooling system. Timing chain has been replaced before I bought the car. Could it be a water pump?

It's almost impossible to diagnose weird noises over the internet. Somebody's "grinding" might be somebody else's "scraping" oe "whirring" or who knows what words somebody might choose to describe a noise. A mechanic's stethoscope is a fairly cheap investment that might help localize the noise.

Hi; just an idea --did you check the serpentine pulley?

Quick test: Take some lube spray (i.e. MOS2) and spray a bit behind the serpentine while the engine is running. If the grinding disappears then you got the spot. The Mopar part# is 04792410AD; fixing the pulley takes less than 30 minutes.

Good luck

Better replace the belt after spraying lubricant all over it.

Well, I didn't mean to spray the belt; there is plenty of space between the engine block and the belts to reach the bearing. I should have mentioned that the spray bottle should have a long nozzle comparable to this:
