Default '10 Sebring Anti-Theft reset

I have a beat up '10 Sebring that was purchased for a commuter. The anti-theft system is tripped. The right dot light is on, and the car won't start. I've tried several of the "try this" stuff online. Locking doors. turning key in door lock for several seconds, etc. Because of the condition of the car, it will be pointless to have it towed in for a repair because that will be worth nearly what the car is. Why would Chrysler not have a SET reset method for this? Why would they have a security feature that actually leaves you stranded? And why would they have an added feature that could virtually total your vehicle when it gets older? Being faulty and leaving you stranded or totaling your vehicle seems way more likely than preventing a theft.

That said, any other remedies to fix without having it towed in?

Because if it were easy to reset it wouldn't be much of a security system, would it?

Why would they have a security feature that actually leaves you stranded?
If your car was easy to steal you would also be stranded, wouldn't you?

And why would they have an added feature that could virtually total your vehicle when it gets older?
Like an automatic transmission or power steering?

If you truly need a car for commuting, you might want to invest in something better than a "beat up" eight year old model.

It doesn't have to be easy to not require a tow to a dealership. And, there is still no legitimate reason to put the battery where it is.

Transmissions, etc are NECESSARY to make the car run, so that's a stupid comparison.
