Default 3.5L problems?

Every engine has them, what are the shortcomings/problems with the 3.5l?

I know the 2.4l has some issues with the thermostat housing that I've experienced and the 2.7l has it's fair share of issues but I haven't read much about the 3.5L.

I'm sure that this has been asked before and I apologies for asking again, I did search and didn't find anything.

Year and model would be helpful, there are numerous versions but some general insight.
There are 3 different "versions" yet basically the same base engine in the 3 2002 300M's I have owned and yet another in the 2008 Sebring Drop top my wife has (also a 3.5)
Timing Belt and Water Pump are MAINTENANCE items that MUST be replaced periodically (84Minths/100K miles) These are Interference engines so If the belt fails, valves and pistons have a strong chance of collision and major damage.
Temperature Sensitive / Thermostat/ Coolant : Aluminum Block and heads do not tolerate overheating, coolant and system maintenance important. Flush and refill with correct GO5 coolant is a must. Thermostat location in block MUST be properly installed with the sensing element toward the block.
Crankcase Ventilation / PCV. Again Maintenance and valve replacement important.
Oil Changes / as with any engine proper oil and filter changes mandatory (5000K is fine)
I have 250K on my 2002 M and 100K on the Sebring with no Major Issues other than Maintenance listed above.
Some engines did suffer from "Lifter Tick" lash adjuster issues but usually resolved during warrantee.
Plenty of good rearing at 300Mclub.org
These are NOT Racing Engines, Rod bearing failures form continued high RPM use have happened, Head Gaskets RARELY fail unless overheated.
