Default 96 JXI hiccups

As I am driving the engine would hiccup random meaning it would stall for a split of a second. I get that forward jolt of inertia. One time it even stalled but I could restart after turning it off. Just wonderring what would be causing this. The 96 is has only 135K miles and runs great with plenty pep and power. I have replaced timing belet and done heads rebuilt, new TBP sensor, IAC motor, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs and wires, EGR valve and hoses. I also had replaced a distributor but I have suspicion that the rotor was changed only and the charge was for the whole thing. That is when I started to work on it myself and done all the above work. I would entertain any ideas where should I look for the fix.

Thanks

If you spend some time reading the forum here you will probably come to the conclusion that a good many problems associated with V-6 engines from the '90's Sebrings are traceable to the distributor. Your post also suspects the distributor.
A heavy miss as you describe it should generate an error code. Check for codes first.
