My 97 Sebring Coupe 2.5 A604 has gradually been losing overdrive and now it has no 4th gear or overdrive at all. It started with nasty downshifts out of OD down to second or first when depressing the gas just a LITTLE too far. Then it got to where just pushing the gas a tad it would drop out of OD. Letting go of the gas it would go back into OD. Now it's gone totally. 1-2-3 all work fine. I replaced the solonoid pack, the input and output sensors, even a used trans control unit. The fluid was fine. Shops have said it needs a rebuild. Before I tear it out did I miss anything external?

Thanks for that confirmation TNtech. If I decide to rebuild this unit what parts need to be updated to avoid the original problems? I've have a new shift solonoid, input and output speed sensors on it already. Has the torque converter been updated?
