Default 98 Sebring tachometer working backwards - circuit board / IC issue?

I have a 1998 Chrysler Sebring JXI . The tachometer started working Inversely. When you hit the gas, it comes down from 5000 RPM. The engine speed increases as normal. The car is mechanically OK. I dismantled the gauge cluster and found that putting a slight bend in the circuit board behind the gauges made the tachometer work correctly again. I took the gauge cluster out and re-soldered every single trace but the problem came back. I have checked everything with an ohmmeter On the component side and cannot find any bad traces. Has anyone encountered this, and what component did you focus on that has the problem? I just can’t find this electrical gremlin and it’s getting annoying.

It won't cost you much because it's not a big problem, but even thus you will have to waste about 100 dollars. Knowing what are circuit boards made of then trust me that you aren't the first one with such a problem. I hope that it was useful for you.
Thanks for the information.

it ended up being a bad connection on one of the "pass through" wires that goes through the board from one side to the other. I ended up finding it a little by luck, and a little by testing. The fix was to solder a jumper wire from one side of the board to the other. Sorry this isn't super helpful, but at least you know the failure mode now and what to do to fix it if you can find the bad one. Good luck
