Default 98 Sebring tachometer working backwards - circuit board / IC issue?

I have a 1998 Chrysler Sebring JXI . The tachometer started working Inversely. When you hit the gas, it comes down from 5000 RPM. The engine speed increases as normal. The car is mechanically OK. I dismantled the gauge cluster and found that putting a slight bend in the circuit board behind the gauges made the tachometer work correctly again. I took the gauge cluster out and re-soldered every single trace but the problem came back. I have checked everything with an ohmmeter On the component side and cannot find any bad traces. Has anyone encountered this, and what component did you focus on that has the problem? I just canít find this electrical gremlin and itís getting annoying.
