Exclamation changing transmission...simple question (maybe)

I have a 1996 Sebring Jxi V6, needs new transmission im assuming. it will go in drive but not reverse and after it runs for a while it gets a horrible squeal/grinding noise.

i have found a couple transmissions for sale locally from wrecked cars, but they are 1998 models. Will they work in my car?

Do they have to have the same exact motor?

Do they have to have a certin kind of transmission even if they do have the same engine?

What year sebrings can i pull a transmission out of and use (assuming i can)? is it standard like 1996 thru 2000 (thats just an example i personally have no ideal)

Get friendly with the guy behind the parts counter at your local Chrysler dealership. If the part number for the transmission is the same then it will work. If not, then you are taking a chance.

Transmission is 41TE or A406 from what I understand they are the same thing. They did put two different trannys in sebrings (and many other models) identified as a two plug or 4 plug reffering to the neutral/park switches. I have confermed my transmission is the 4 plug, and can now find a transmission that is also a 4 plug that was built for a 2.5L and should have no problems.

My tranny is making the same kinds or noise,

Is it completely gone or will a filter and new fluids do the trick?

Mine is an 02 with the 2.4L DOHC with the letter X in the VIN,,,,

Does anyone know what tranny is in there?

or

Which one will fit?
