Default Cigarette lighter not working

2002 Chrysler sebring convertible LX. The fuse for the lighter appears to be fine but no power to the outlet. The lighter appears to be well used and the socket can spin around in its holder. I am thinking maybe the wires to the lighter may have been disconnected. I do not know how to get to the socket or if something else could cause this.

New and experienced here Thanks!

Could be a disconnected wire or faulty/burned out socket. Unfortunately, removing the socket entails removing the entire center console. If you want to take on that job, your best bet is to get hold of a shop manual, like a Chilton's or Haynes.

Default I had this on my 2006 Sebring.

The wire behind the cigarette lighter has disconnected itself. And i just pulled the lighter out of the dash with screwdriver and pliers. But i could not reach the disconnected wire so i used a Dremel to widen the hole and fished the wire out and connected it to back of lighter with small nut it was held on with.
Now i have a bigger hole in dash to deal with, but better than taking dash out.
