I am not sure about the Sebring but other Chrysler Products changed the electronics in 2002. The link provided outlines the changes for the LH cars and what needs to be swapped for the 3.5 engine.

Sounds like there may be a cam tone ring issue if it starts with the cam sensor unplugged.

in the chain kit you got did the cam shaft tome wheel get replaced with the 01 setup in it? Or did you just use the 04 tone wheel? also did you use the same fly wheel as the 01 or use the 04 one?
