Default Looking for ground only when the key is off

I have a strange problem with the headlights on my 2006 Sebring convertible.

They turn on by themselves while driving... it is an intermittent problem... sometimes they come on, sometimes they don't.

The most interesting thing about this problem is that when you shut the key off, you get no alarm of any kind that the headlights have come on because the car seems to be "unaware" that the lights are on!

So you come back to the car and the batter is dead.

I went out and bought a small 12V buzzer.

My intent is to connect the positive end of the buzzer to the headlight fuse and the ground end of the buzzer to another fuse that is ground ONLY when the key is off.

I figure this way the buzzer will only sound when there is voltage going to the headlights AND the key is off.

Can anyone tell me which fuse might have a ground only when the key is off?

What if I put one side of the buzzer on the hot lead at the headlight itself? Then where can I grab a ground that is only ground when the key is off?

If you can't find one, you can create one using a relay.

A relay.. I like that Idea... I can get a normally closed relay and when power is not applied to it, it will connect to ground... great idea.

does anyone see any problem with hooking the + side of a 12V buzzer and the - side of that buzzer through a relay to ground? Are there any current or short conditions I should be aware of?

You've got to come up with a way to make it buzz only when the lights are actually on and the key is actually off. Not that complicated a circuit, draw it up and give it a try. If it doesn't work, you can always pull it out.
