I was hoping someone could help. I just got a 1996 Sebring in good shape. When I shut it off the damn car sometimes restarts and sometimes doesnt. The battery is brand new. The engine light was coming on with the battery light. Now the engine light is off and the battery light is off. I turn the key and sometimes the instrument lights come on then they go off and the car is dead. I attach a battery jumper and the car starts. When it stops at a light, the car lights go dim and interior lights too . I think its the altenator. any ideas?

 

if the alt was bad, and the battery was new, it woudl be fine until the battery was drained...perhaps a bad connection on the battery?
