Sebring 2008 stalling and making strange rubbing noise under car
Hello, my daughters 2008 Sebring stalled yesterday while she was driving. She said the engine died while the car was going forward but her foot was off the gas. It restarted but died again a mile later. She drive it home. I don't see any DTC codes using appcar. It has 120k miles and the owner before us left it outside and some mice lived in the engine for a few months so we got a deal on the car but I'm worried about wires but like i said no error codes as of now. There is also a strange rubbing sound in the area under the gear shifter. The sound starts out slow and then grows a louder and faster as you accelerate. It sounds like something rotating rubbing against an object and the faster the thing rotates the louder and more often the rubbing sound occurs. I doubt that has to do with why the car is stalling but it is annoying and it been happening for a couple months now. Thanks a bunch!

The only way to find out what's going on is to get under there and look. If you don't have the equipment to SAFELY raise the car, then take it somewhere and have it looked at. It could be something simple like something picked up from the road and caught under there. It could be something wearing out after 16 years. The damage possibly caused by mice is another problem that can only be diagnosed by getting in there and checking it out. They like to chew the insulation off wiring and who knows what kind of problems that could cause. Nobody here can predict what might be found on a close inspection of your car but that's the only way you will find out what's going on under there. Good luck.
