Sebring Body Control Module
I've had a chain of body control module failures, repaired by a dealer at great cost. I'd like to know more about this device. Can someone identify where it is likely located? (Engine compartment? Dashboard?) How large it is? Can a DIYer replace it? Any help would be appreciated. (2001 Sebring convertible)
It's attached to the junction block (fuse box at the left end of the instrument panel). Removal is not simple, and a new one must be programmed properly for your car. I don't know your capabilities, but if you can get your hands on a shop manual, you can read through the relevant portions and decide for yourself whether you are up to the task.

Thanks, dcotter, that's quite helpful. Seems I can purchase a new module online at much less cost than at the Chrysler dealer and find a knowledgeable mechanic/electronic guy to install/program it. I can't sell this car with this malady and also can't sink another $1K into it.
It's nice that you knowledgeable sorts help us, the unwashed, without recompense :^)
