Default steering noise

anyone know anything about the steering mine has a constant poping noise when driving, and is at all times not just when turning. I have a 2004 4dr sedan i think it has the racknpinion but not sure any help would be great.

Is this related to the front end noise that we both have suffered recently? Do you feel it in the steering wheel? Is it on the left or right side or just can't tell? Your current case seems a bit more excessive if it is happening all the time.

I got it figured out, I have done some things and so far so good.

as far as the front end noise, i relpaced the struts and the rack n pinion and the poping noise has gone away for now.

the new noise was from the fact that i think i have pissed someone off cause 3 of the lug nuts were very loose and the other 2 were on the way to being very loose.

I have come to the conclusion that the clanging/popping noise is from the front struct. I often wonder if it isn't the rack and pinion. But I had the strut bushings, and after some initial grief, the car is excellent. Once the noise returns, I will get the front struts changed.
