Default strange a/c headlight problem 01 Sebring convert

My 2001 Sebring LX convertible a/c works fine normally. However, whenever the headlights are turned on air only comes out the defrost vent, no matter what setting it is on. Also the rear window defogger does not come on with the headlights on, but with lights off it works fine. Any ideas? I thought maybe the alternator might be getting weak, but car starts fine and everything else seems okay. Thank you, George

I would definitely put a voltmeter on your battery and see what kind of voltage drop you are getting with the headlights on. Your alternator may be just strong enough to keep the battery charged but not strong enough to run multiple accessories.

Also, your control head on the A/C is failing. It's pretty common. Search through the forum here for many discussions of the issue and how to remedy it.

DCotter you were right. I changed out the control head and that fixed it. Thanks to you all for your input and suggestions. George
