Default 2018 Chrysler 300 Screen Delamination

Our 2018 Chrysler 300 has a screen delamination issue. Have been reading this is a major issue with 2017-2019 Chrysler vehicles. Have called Chrysler 4 times. Was issued 2 different case numbers, and then they immediately closed them. Was told since the car is out of warranty, they will not do anything about helping cover the cost of a repair or remanufactured component replacement. Car was under 36,000 when I first called, but I was told it is out of date warranty. Chrysler needs to recall this issue. Many people are having this same screen issue. Chrysler, Please do something about this. This has been known to be a safety issue, as when it gets bad enough, the screen will black out. Delamination on screens has been known to cause the screen to black out, especially during backing, and buttons will randomly be pushed. Chrysler, recall this issue. Thank you.

I am having this same issue. My screen looks almost exactly like yours. I agree that a recall is in order. Have you filed a claim with the NHTSA?

File a claim at: nhtsa.gov and go to Recalls. This is the verbiage I used. If everyone does this the NHTSA will look into the matter.

The vehicle's LCD screen has become delaminated which causes the control of the radio, air conditioning, navigation, and other features controlled by the "radio" portion of the car to become dysfunctional. The car will randomly beep, change air temperatures, start navigation, cause the loss of hands-free communication. This is a safety hazard as it causes the driver to be distracted in order to attend to the incessant beeping and issues related to AC/heat, navigation or radio (volume, etc.). This appears from Chrysler Forums to be an issue among a large group of Chrysler 300 Year Model 2018 owners. I am encouraging them to file a concern with your group and to ask for a recall of the car for this reason.

I am having the same issue an it started almost immediately following the expiration of the extended warranty. I will certainly file a claim with NHTSA as this should be recalled and repaired.

Thanks for sharing the information!

Screen delamination has happened in my 2018 Chrysler 300S. It has been happening for awhile but when took to have car fixed mechanic said it was a $1700 part and that does not include labor. Right now it is affecting the radio it keeps on switching channels but trusted mechanic says eventually if you wait could drip into the heater controls and ruin it even more and cost you more money.

Please Chrysler it sounds like this could be a safety recall. The screen has many functions. Can you give me some advice?

Had the same issue and did the exact same thing. I was lucky, mine was still under factory warranty.
Other than upping the $$ for another you may try to find a used from a yard of there is a company out there that refurbish them for a little less.
But I agree, this should have been a recall ... that and the pinched wire in the center console which has also been replaced on my 2018 300S (2X).
I would actually write/email Chrysler, you'll get a faster response than posting here.
Well worth getting extended warranty on these cars, mine has already paid for itself twice over!!!

Plenty of youtube vids and other sources depicting the screen replacement. If you're not the consumerate Handyman, consult an area auto radio specialist and I'm willing to bet he/she is well versed in these units. Someone quoting $1,700 and no labor quote is mentally deficient. Unless, of course, the story was made up. The radio was covered under the 3/36, unless the owner also bought an extended warranty that covers these devices.

According to what I can find, this fits 2018 Chrysler 300 S. Worth taking a look at at least for the price

Default Chrysler 300 Delamination Issue

Our 2018 Chrysler 300 is also having the delamination issue. Our car only has 35,000 miles on it. It is definitely a safety issue. As several people have commented the radio station keeps changing so it is useless. But the heat/cool also keeps changing and cannot be controlled. Since the screen changes Nav also stops working. We talked to a repair service near us and they said they have seen this issue many times. Chrysler needs to fix this issue. It is irresponsible not to fix it. We will report it to NHTSA.

No one disagrees with you. In the meantime, ODZKing above is tendering sources for affordable replacements and your local auto radio repair shop has probably replaced a number of these UConnect screens already. Perhaps you have someone mechanically inclined at home who can replace the screen - instructions readily available. Fingers crossed on my 2020 300S even with the zero deductible Mopar MaxCare Warranty. Little confidence in the local servicing dealer and the sales dealer is 500 miles away. I still haven't learned the 'secret handshake' apparently....
