Default 08 aspen

Hello I was driving my aspen home, it started making a weird noise and the lost power steering fluid. When I got it home I jacked it up and noticed that the front driveshaft yolk had rubbed the metal lines on the rack and pinion. Just sitting there there’s several inches of clearance, any ideas on how this happened

Only things I can think of is either the front differential has a bad mount which is allowing it to move up and down when it's not supposed to or you have something loose on the rack and pinion which is allowing it to move up and down. Looking at mine and I see both of these are fixed to the frame and therefore should not be moving. BTW, my upper metal line on the rack and pinion is only about 3/4 an inch from the yoke and the lower line is about an inch and a half.
