2007 Chrysler Aspen Cold Engine Clicking Noise
2007 Chrysler Aspen 5.7liter Hemi\r\n
When I start the vehicle and it is cold, I am hearing a clicking noise as the engine idles and once I start to drive the noise increases as I accelerate. Once the engine is warmed-up and i drive for a few minutes the clicking noise then goes away. Any advice!

If one of the other techs can come up with it...I seem to recall a bulletin for 4.7 and 5.7 exhaust manifold stud breakage. Very common to Durango and Dakota, But Im not sure if the ASPEN fell into that boat or not, and I cant seem to find the bulletin at the moment.
Very easy to check......Immediately after cold start, listen at the left and right front wheel wells.......and have an assistant tap the throttle.....If this is the case...It will be painfully obvious..

Clicking sound
My mechanic claims the clicking sound is caused when oil drains out of the heads (he claims happens to most fords and dodge trucks/suvs) each time the engine is shut off, because of thier design. Basically the clicking you hear is the sound of dry heads rubbing on the inside of the combustion chamber. Once the engine starts oil lubricates the chamber and the clicking ends. (I am not a mechanic or a grease monkey so I take no responsibility for use of improper terms in the above description).

Any resolution to this issue? I am experiencing this with my 2007 Chrysler Aspen (5.7 HEMI) also. Getting different information from each shop that sees it. The dealership told me its normal bc of the lifters. The sound is awful! Cannot be normal.

This an be quite a lengthy job, as the manifold bolts have a tenancy to shear, I changed the gaskets and heat shields on my 20075.7L Hemi Aspen this summer. Do lots of research on Youtube before you start.
