Default Engine Knock

Well its more like an engine ping, like when you use bad gas or just "Regular" Gas. I have the 5.7L Hemi and use 89 "Mid Grade" gas, I have 1000 miles on it and have filled up at different stations to see if it made a difference. Anyone else have this problem? I am probably going to have to take it in and see what they say.

I would take it in, I haven't heard anything like that. I have 3,000 miles on my '08

Hard to know exactly what you are hearing but the Hemi's are known for their very characteristic and normal "hemi tick".

I have the 07 Hemi. Never heard a ping or knock. I use 87 octane. It is the smoothest, quickest engine I have ever driven.

Just took mine to the dealer (5000 miles) to have them listen to the "knock." They reminded me to use 89 octane (which I am) and that it was probably just from bad gas. It only happens when the Hemi is in the 'fuel saver' 4 cyl mode andlight pedal pressure is applied. When all 8 cyl engage, it goes away. Anyone else have the same issue?

With the additional description florabama (sp?) provided that it occurred only in active MDS mode this is just the sound the engine makes. I have a cold air intake and in active MDS it is very pronounced, no issues.

We had a '99 Durango with the 5.2L that knocked even with higher octane gas. I took it in twice and they finally "re-flashed" the chip. The knocking went away after that only when 89 or higher was used. I was having flashbacks to our '99. If that is just the sound the Hemi makes, I guess I need louder exhaust or just turn up the radio. Thanks for the help.
