Default Liftgate *beep beep beep*

Does anyone know how its to disable- this beep? Its very loud. I know its for our security but sometimes it makes me crazy.
Before i search all the car down maybe one knows where the speaker is?

As far as I know, there's no setting that disables the chime. The only thing you can practically do is open and close the liftgate yourself if it bothers you that much.

I wouldn't condone doing this, BUT -- In order to disable the chime, you'd have to remove the upper trim panel (above the window) from the inside of the liftgate. It's held on with some pushpin fasteners that pry off. After that, you simply unplug a connector. If you REALLY hate the chime and can't even stand the thought of it existing in there, it snaps free easily once you unplug the connector. Then, you're free to take it out to a field with a baseball bat and show it what you really think of it.

I will be following this one with great interest as I almost smashed it in the middle of the night while on a camping trip.... You have given my a brain spark here... maybe tying a small 10k pot to the speaker output would enable you to preset it's level... just noticed that your post is from July... how did you make out?

I damped this small chime with a Tape. Then was still to loud and then i put a small edge from a damping/ isolation mat between the Tape and the Chime. Your hear it (if someone would stay at this area) but its much quiter than oem style. Since July i have it this way, the 3rd solution would be to click of the chime.

Its a more or less easy job.
