Loud clunk w/4wd lo
Hi everyone,
I engage the 4wd hi/low switches weekly just to make sure they're working correctly while I'm in warranty.
Question: When I change to 4wd high, it's a very smooth switch with just a small noise. However, when I change to and from 4wd low, there is usually a loud clunk - enough to where the truck vibrates a bit. Is this normal, or something I need to have checked out?
It seems to function just fine once I get it switched over, but it engages sort of violently.
Thanks!

I'm not sure why they prefer the vehicle to be moving. It works just fine doing it as you describe as well, which Chrysler refers to as the "alternate procedure".
By the way, you'll probably get a better response on this if you don't post it on a 4WD thread in a Chrysler Aspen forum.
