Default shifting mystery

Our 2008 Chrysler Aspen Limited 4x4, 5.7 hemi has and issue with transmission. Sometimes driving around at slow speeds in our neighborhood in Drive, it will not shift out of second gear; you have to pull over and turn engine off for a couple of minutes then it works ok again. Also if you manually select 2nd gear and want to shift back to Drive it will not shift our of second gear. Have to shut it down again to reboot it. We had our mechanic check it out a month ago and scanned the transmission and found it was a bad neutral safety switch. So we got the part, $25 and filter kit and fluid. He had to remove the valve body to get to it and found a crack in the old switch. repair completed and operated like new again until last evening it started the same thing all over again. It runs great other than this issue. Was wondering if anyone else had experienced this and had any advice on a fix. Thanks

you need a mechanic with a better scanner that can actually get into the transmission computer. A neutral safety switch will have nothing to do with the car shifting at all. Its only for starting up the engine.
Second gear is safety gear there will be codes that will let someone know why it was stuck in second gear.

Make sure you use ATF +4 transmission fluid only
