Default Sound Not Working

I have a 2008 Chrysler Aspen. When I start the vehicle, everything is fine for about 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, there is no sound but the radio seems fine. I can change the stations or switch to Sirius XM, Aux, and CD but there is no sound coming out. When I turn the car off and turn back on, it works again for 5 seconds before going out again. Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how to fix?

Sounds like you may need a software update. Does this happen only when using satellite radio or does it happen in all radio modes?

Below are a couple TSB that might apply to what your experiencing:

TSB 08-001-11 REV. A

SUBJECT:
RER, REW, REP Radio Software Enhancements

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves upgrading the software on the RER, REW, or REP Radio.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built with an AM/FM/CD/DVD/HDD/MP3 W/
NAV Radio (sales code RER) or an MW/FM CD MP3 NAV Radio - EURO (sales
code REW) or an AM/FM CD MP3 NAV Radio - ROW (sales code REP).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
· The radio may lock up when a U-Connect call ends, this may cause battery drain.
· Intermittent no sound from audio system.
· Repeated **“Updating Channels”** message when in satellite radio mode.
· **iPhone4 (4.2.1) losing Bluetooth connection intermittently and not displaying
accurate caller ID information when using UConnect**

Check the radio software version.
a. Press “Menu” button on the radio.
b. Press “System Setup” touch screen soft key.
c. Press “System Information” touch screen soft key.
d. The software level is the number reported after the word “Application”.

Is the radio software version **2.402**, or greater?
a. YES >>> This service bulletin does not apply. Further diagnosis may be required.
b. NO >>>> Perform the TSB repair procedure.

Repair Procedure: Software update via CD Disc (version **2.402**)

TSB 08-008-08

SUBJECT:
Flash: Radio - Sound Mutes Intermittently When Radio Is In SAT (Sirius) Mode

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Radio with new software.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
This condition may occur when the radio is in the SAT mode during power-up, the
artist/song title is being displayed before audio is present and A or B below occurs:
a. The on/off **** is pressed to turn the radio off.
b. A mode change (button press) occurs.
After one of the above condition occurs and the mode is changed back to SAT; the display
will be in SAT mode, with no AUDIO and the volume control will be inoperative. If the
customer presses seek up/down or cycles the ignition key then the sound will be enabled.

Repair Procedure: Star Scan update required.

Good luck on resolving this issue asap!

No the sound goes out with any feature, i.e radio, cd, and satellite and does not start again until the car is completely off and restarted. The TSB's below will not help me because I do not have a nav radio. It is just cd, satellite, and mp3.
