Default Towing a 28ft boat

I have a 2007 Aspen with the 5.7L Hemi. I bought it used and it did not come with the trailer tow package. If I get a hitch installed, do you think I'll have any problems pulling a 6,000lb 28ft speed boat? The trailer is probably another 1,200lbs. Just wonder other thoughts. Thanks!

Check the owners manual, available at chrysler.com. If you are planning on freeway speeds and long distances, be conservative in loading the car. If you are pulling for a few miles at low speeds, you can probably get away with heavier loads. Personally, I think 7200 lbs on an Aspen is pushing your luck.

An Aspen with the 5.7 Hemi, 3:93 Rear End Gear Ratio, and tow package, is good for 8900lbs Towing. Personally, I wouldn't do that on a daily basis, my nuckles wouldn't have any color left in them. BUT, I will say the anti-roll midigation will handle that kind of weight quite well.

daviddooley, I would be sure to add ALL of the components for the tow package. Transmission/steering cooler, wiring, hitch etc. 7200lbs is alot for the tranny, even on short trips, the engine will have no problems what so ever. I can only guess to say that the vehicle is prewired for the package, and that adding a brake controller with the OEM harness, would be a breeze.

Hope this helps.

Man 6000lbs is way too much you should look at Boat shipping Expert to done similar kind of work. Trailer hitches are often broken into classes that range from the lightweight Class I trailer hitch, to heavy Class V hitches. Outside of the standard hitch class are gooseneck and fifth wheel connections that have their own weight limits to take into consideration.
