Default VES Remote Control Not Working...Maybe

I just bought my first "new to me" 2007 Chrysler Aspen yesterday . My 6 year old LOVES the DVD player and wireless headphones (and we love the peace and quiet in the car now), but we can't figure out how to work the remote control. Of course the VES manual didn't come with the vehicle (or a NAV manual for that matter which I'm seeing quite often on forums). I'm wondering if there is some trick to using the remote (e.g. where to point it, if it needs to be reset, etc). I've put in fresh batteries and aimed it at the dash, the screen, the overhead console, and nothing.

I'm wondering if my remote is bad...I can still use the overhead controls, but I'd like to be able to utilize the remote as well.

Any ideas? Luckily I bought a certified used vehicle so I've got the balance of the factory warranty to 3/36 to get repairs made. I just don't want to go into the service department looking like an idiot if it's something simple.

Frustrated in Tulsa...

Our 2007 Aspen came with both the NAV and VES manuals. The remote works fine for the grandkids or big kids in the back seats.
Push your dealer to get the manuals they should have been there.

Enjoy!!!

Do the buttons backlighton the remote illuminate? Go to a dealer and ask to see an Aspen. Take your remote with you and try it out. You will then know if it is a remote issue. Either way, there is a problem. I wouldn't sweat it with the dealer, go in and tell them either the remote or player is not working correctly.
