Default Winter Tires

I am picking up my new '08 Vanilla Aspen on Saturday. I went out tonight to get winter wheels and tires. I was informed I need to spend $100 a corner for chipped valve stems to make the automatic tire pressure system to work and that there is no way to deactivate it. Any one have any insight as to what you do if you swap out the 20's for winter rims and tires?

Thanx

G.

You only need to pay for the TPMS sensors in each wheel if you want to use the system with your winter wheels. You'll probably have an error light on the dash, but it won't affect anything other than your ability to monitor tire pressure.

There's no reason to spent $100 for each of these should you decide to buy them. I found them online for $46.75 inside of a minute. I bet you could do even better if you spent some time looking around. You might even do better if you can find OEM wheels that you can cannibalize off a wrecked Chrysler vehicle that uses the same sensors.

Thanx,

You are right! Once I got the terminology down (TPMS Sensor), I was able to locate 4 new sensors on the net and I am set to go. Just have to find someone with snows in stock!!

Thanx again,

G.

Consider checking at Tirerack.com.

You can order the whole deal with sensors. It is easier than buying separately.
