05 pacifica body control module
#2
The left multi-function switch control stalk actuates the turn signal switch. The Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the left multi-function switch, then based upon that multiplexed input, provides a variable voltage output to control the lighting of the turn signals. One Touch Lane Change is a feature that will provide three turn signal blinks when the turn signal stalk is activated momentarily. The three blinks will be cancelled if the opposite turn signal is activated or if the hazard flashers are activated. The three blinks will also be cancelled with a change in ignition switch status.
Lighting circuits are protected by fuses. Lighting circuits require an overload protected power and high side drivers source, ON/OFF device, lamps and body grounds to operate properly. Plastic lamps require a wire in the harness to supply body ground to the lamp socket. Replace sockets and bulbs that are corroded.
Some of the interior and exterior lighting functions are governed by the Body Control Module (BCM). The headlamp, dome, and the door ajar switches provide signals to the BCM. The BCM in turn sends a Programmable Communication Interface (PCI) bus message to the Integrated Power Module (IPM) to enable the necessary drivers to set the required illumination configuration.
Wire connectors can make intermittent contact or become corroded. Before coupling wire connectors, inspect the terminals inside the connector. Male terminals should not be bent or disengaged from the insulator. Female terminals should not be sprung open or disengaged from the insulator. Bent and sprung terminals can be repaired using needle nose pliers and pick tool. Corroded terminals appear chalky or green. Corroded terminals should be replaced to avoid recurrence of the problem symptoms.
Check the output of Integrated Power Module (IPM) before replacing the switch.
Before replacing a Power Distribution Center/Integrated Power Module make sure you check for fault codes. The module may not require replacement if open or shorted faults are present. The module will also show a fault for an internal failure if the fault has been set 64 times. The module will continue to display an internal failure fault after the defect is corrected, but will not be defective.
Use this IPM replacement part on vehicles built prior to 7/08/2004. Use 5082789AH or 5082790AH for later built vehicles.
