Default 05 Pacifica Coolant Leak & Not the Waterpump

Hello,

Well I've had a persistent coolant leak and finally tackled the water pump/timing kit today. When I got inside the timing belt housing I expected to see coolant but didn't see any. I went ahead and replaced the pump, belt, pulley and tensioner and put it all back together but I still have a coolant leak. The leak shows up on the front of the middle of the oil pan. Are there O-rings behind the rear timing cover housing that leak? I saw a brief mention of that in a video I watched but wasn't sure if my 05 3.5L had that...I hope not...

Thanks for any and all ideas and help.

Yes there are 3 orings behind the right timing housing that tend to leak as they age.

This may help.

Thank you. Not really excited about this news. Thanks for the link. Any more write up on taking off the cam pulleys? That part seems the most difficult.

Cam drive removal calls for a special tool to retime the drive to the cam. It is not a keyed, fixed location. More like a "D" shaped drive on the cam and a "loose fit" on the cog wheel.
You could approximate the location by centering the cam once the belt is off. It will tent to rest at a center point between the marks on the housing. Mark the exact location of the drive cog to the housing. Remove the bolt ( 10" long) and cog. Remove housing and replace seal rings. At reassembly, "center" the cam, install the cog aligning your mark, torque the bolt to 75'# + 1/4 turn and recheck your results
