Default 2004 PAC- Transmission losing it prime

At least that's what a local transmission shop told me today. If I make a hard right turn the tranny slips out of gear and goes back in with a "clunk" after I complete turn. Slow turn no problem. The shop gave me an estimate of $2200 to rebuild the transmission. Ouch! Has anyone had this problem or heard of the transmissions losing prime. I have just over 96K on the vehicle.

Thanks

Is you vehicle leaking tranny fluid? Do you check the level regularly? I have not dealt with the problem you describe since I quit driving my '66 Chrysler in '97. When it would slip as you describe, I knew that the fluid was low as it leaked incessantly. I would carefully watch your fluid level for a while and see if the problem persists. A slipping transmission with a proper fluid level is indeed in need of maintenance/repair/rebuild. Good luck. Big bucks.

Default Pacifica Transmission

I love my Chrysler and Jeep products, (you have to or nobody would buy them)...but one thing is for sure with all Chrysler Corporation Transmissions. Either flush them completely every 30k or you will be buying a new one or looking at a rebuild. I have had almost nothing but Chryslers, Plymouths, Dodges and Jeeps my entire life and have never had anything more than a shift module go out on a 300M that I owned.

But then again, those transmissions were flushed without fail every 30k. I drive my vehicles on average 350 to 500k before getting something else. So the problem is not the trans; it is the lack of maintenance.

Hope this helps going forward.
