My 2005 Limited has 91K and the water pump and timing belt have not been changed, thinking I should get it done. My car has some undercarriage rust issues, some cradle rust, and some rust on the wheel well behind the passenger side rear door, so I'm thinking I will price that repair out first. I put four new tires on the car a year ago, less than 5K miles on them, and new front brakes and rotors at the same time. I probably put around 6K or 7K miles on the car per year, so I'd like to get a couple more years out of it. Realistically, this car is only worth maybe $3,000 to $4,000 based on Edmunds values, but it's paid for and in good shape (other than the rust issue above). I don't expect to spend nothing for maintenance on a 12 year old car. One could argue that even if I had to put $2,000 into it between rust repairs and water pump and timing belt to drive it a couple more years then sell it or pass it on to someone, would be worth it.

I changed the timing belts, water pump, tension adjusters, serpentine belt and adjusters at 142,000. This, after reading the threads here. It's running smooth.

Have AAA and they can tow it to a junk yard if needed.....
Another 5 years later, and 30k more miles on the original timing belt... Well worth the gamble.

Default Just randomly came upon this

Good to hear about your timing belt. I am just pulling up on 300,000 kms/ 186,000 miles on the original timing belt. Car is pretty much garbage now so wont be changing it but will drive this thing into the ground.
