Default 2006 pacifica is ticking

I am completely horrified. I have heard this sound before, right before a head blew on our 2 year old Dodge grand caravan, apparently one of the lifters had gone bad.
We bought the Pacifica brand new with the extended warranty, so it's not costing us too much money at the moment. Since this seems to be a somewhat common Chrysler defect, I am scared that the other lifters are gonna break as well, and that there has been damage done to the head already, leaving me with a car that is gonna need lots of expensive maintenance in the near future.
I absolutely adore my Pacifica, but I am somewhat irritated that this is the 2nd brand new Chrysler purchase we made, and they both had the same problem within 3 years (our Caravan lasted only 2 years) We have owned 5 new cars, Chrysler/Dodge were the only ones to break before I got my new-car-itis.
In the past 5 years, has Chrysler addressed this problem? Has anyone had issues with their 07's and '08's?
