I call it an engine light because it is the shape of an engine and it is lit up on my dash lights. When checking it indicates a gas cap not being secured but after checking it remains on. So what other suggestions can anyone suggest? How do I turn it off? Thank you for any responses. The car is a 2007 with a 4.0 engine.

 

What was the specific code that you got? There are codes for hundreds of things. The gas cap is only one of them. There could be more than one code at the same time. If you haven't done so already, you can go to a parts store like AutoZone or PepBoys and have the codes read for free.
