Default persistent P0335 code: crank position sensor. Replace it?

My 2004 Pacific needs a new coolant cap. The old one doesn't hold pressure. I also have a P0335 error which comes back immediately when I reset it and start the car.

Is there any way that the lack of coolant pressure (and eventual boiling of coolant) caused the crank position sensor error? Or are these unrelated?

The car's other symptom is hunting at idle after about 5 minutes idling with the air conditioner turned on.

Should I buy a crank sensor and install it?

I forgot to add: The car appears to run normally. I always thought that a car could not run at all with a bad crank position sensor.

Coolant pressure and its working are mechanical the crank cam and other sensors are electrical they are not related.

Thanks. I was wondering if overheating could cause a misfire and make the computer believe that the crank sensor was bad, but in that case the code would stay cleared after I reset it.

Unless the wires are melted I will bet that the sensor has gone bad.

I replaced the sensor. I had great difficulty separating the connector. Other than that it went well. The error code is gone.
