Default rear main seal

Hello, we have owned our Pacifica for just over a year now. We bought it used with 38,000 miles. It is an 06 3.2L Touring model. It now has about 44,000 miles. I do all the preventative easy maintenance, ie oil changes. Well this last oil change (from the mileage you can tell i have only done 2 anyways) I noticed there was quite a bit of oil consumption. I have been checking it and found that it seems to be coming from the back of the engine. I can really see where to a point but there is oil everywhere just before the transmission. I am guessing this is a bad rear main seal! Enter question: Has this been common? I know how expensive this repair can be and its only 4 years old! I am going to call the dealership we bought it from and see what they say but any suggestions guys, I do not feel like we should be paying for an engine or tranny drop a year into owning ANY car let alone a 4 year old one. Thanks
Cody

Do you know if your Powertrain warranty is expired? If you're out of warranty, don't expect them to do anything for you. I can't recall EVER doing a rear seal on a 3.5L. Especially not a 2006. Did you buy this car from a Chrysler dealer?
