Secret of Traction Control / ESP Warning On All The Tine
There's all kinds of posts about what it means when the traction control ESP warning light is on all the time. Some of them point to issues with the ESP system or steering sensors or wheel sensors, etc.
What I discovered tidayy is undocumented even in the service manuals for any Chrysler product. Specifically whenever the ECU senses something is out of whack either due to a specific failure of a sensor or some combination of inappropriate readings from working sensors it will put the engine into safe mode by activating ESP. If the engine runs fine but fuel cuts out at 3500 RPM then there's a pretty good chance this is what's going on.
My specific case turned out to be a bad crankcase sensor in a 2008 Pacifica 4 0L. This engine was shared with all the grand Caravans out there up to 2011 I believe
