Default PCM Swap

I have 2 08 Cruisers, one has been hit pretty hard, the other is immaculate. The good one has a bad PCM, the other ran fine until ya know....
Can I use the PCM from the one 08 in the other without a huge issue? Will I need to do anything VIN wise or Key wise? Can I swap the ignition with the key and not need a reprogram?
My wife really enjoys the car, and happy wife, happy life.

Thanks for the help.

Will the VIN need to be programmed or will it remain as it is? Im in NY and our inspections sometimes do a VIN match between the PCM and the registration. They may not match if the vin is in the PCM.

Thanks for the info. Am I understanding correctly, the pcm stores the vin? So if I swap the parts the vin displayed in the scan tool will be of the swapped in pcm?

Mileage is also stored in the PCM. That may cause a discrepancy on your title if it appears to be "rolled back". If they're close, nobody will probably ever know or care. For about 200 bucks or so, you can replace your PCM on an exchange basis. There are services on the internet that will do that. You send your VIN and mileage to them, they send the replacement PCM. You swap it out and send the old one back to them. Very easy.

Here's one such service:

There are others.

There are services that will flash an existing PCM with the VIN and odometer mileage so it will work with the keys that function with the car where you are installing it and match the vehicle's mileage. "Myckeee" on EBay mainly sells rebuilt PCMs but he can do it to yours, assuming it is working. No warranty on the existing PCM, though...it would be your used one, so I think that's understandable.
