We've updated results for the PT Cruiser to include owner experiences through March 31, 2010. In terms of repair trips per 100 vehicles per year:

2006: 49, better than average

2005: 71, about average

2004: 94, about average

2003: 104, about average

2002: 109, about average

2001: 91, about average

The results continue to become more consistent from year to year as the amount of data grows. Still, in all six cases sample sizes are small.

A big thank you, once again, to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in August and November. More participants needed to provide more precise results and include all model years.

I’ll also be updating results four times a year, so there will be information on new models sooner.

I'd especiallylike to start collecting data on the PT Cruiser because my wife happens to own a 2002 Dreamer I. But not enough owners have signed up to participate. 2001, 2002, and 2003 are all getting close, but aren't to the minimum of 25.

To encourage participation, panel members will receive full access to the results free of charge.

Comments, questions, and suggestions welcome.

The design is a bit long in the tooth, but it is a pretty small car, better for your body type, and probably one of the most reliable cars of today, especially for small Chrysler. It probably costs them very little to just keep it going, so here another year.

Default Shudder at low speeds on 2008 GT

Hi all,
Have just purchased this 2008 PT GT with 28k on the clock. The first thing i noticed was a shudder at low speed under 40K/h. Has anyone aware of this problem or know what is actually wrong. My car is still under warranty.

thanks
Dean.

We've updated results for the PT Cruiser to include owner experiences through June 30, 2010.

Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the more recent months until the summer or even fall of next year.

In terms of repair trips per 100 vehicles per year:

2006: 69, about average

2005: 112, worse than average

2004: 103, about average

2003: 90, about average

2002: 139, worse than average

2001: 87, better than average

In all six cases sample sizes are small, though the 2004 came within a single response of the minimum sample size for a full result.

A big thank you, once again, to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in November and February. More participants needed to provide more precise results and include all model years.

Looking forward to when we'll be able to fully cover all model years. 295 owners signed up so far, a very good start, but more remain needed.

Starting this month we have a new question to measure, as objectively as possible, the severity of a problem. Many people have been asking for reliability stats that weight problems by how severe they are, and once we have enough responses with the revised survey we'll start providing this.

Also, updated reliability stats this month.

As always, the more owners participate, the better the information we can provide to everyone.

We've updated results for the PT Cruiser to include owner experiences through September 30, 2010. Other sources of car reliability information won't cover the months since April until the summer or even fall of next year.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 vehicles per year:

2006: 98, about average

2005: 113, about average

2004: 82, about average

2003: 92, about average

2002: 166, worse than average

2001: 87, better than average

In all cases but the 2004 sample sizes are small.

Thank you, once again, to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in February and May. More participants needed to provide more precise results and include all model years.
