02 Chrysler T/C Natural safety switch located
inside the transmission. NOT a job for a novice to replace. however, your problem sounds like a cable issue (worn, out of adjustement or anchor point clips are broken).
the BEST method to verify this is to use a quality scanner with data stream... not a crappy $50 code reader but a REAL scan tool. this will show on the data what the shift lever position is sensing for it to start.
