2.5 Diesel voyager cooling fan relays

Why are there three relays for the cooling fan and what is each one for. My fan does not seem to come on and how do I test that the fan are functional? Warm regards

just take of the engine temp sensor connector and both fans will run. I guess you are talking about a 2.5 TD model GS 1996-2001 ?
