un connect the blower motor itself there will be a green and black wire turn the van on turn on the blower motor and see if u get 12 volts on the green wire. If yes then u need a resistor the part number is 04885583AB about 20 bucks and 2 screws. ALso see if u can even move the blower motor. Pull it down 3 screws and see if tapping on it will make it move.

Hey Tech,

Well, I went out and tried checking that wire but I get nothing from it and I did not think I would anyway. I pulled the connector from the receptacle and found the plugged a bit charred. The green wire is burned also right at the point where it goes into the connector end. I am putting a pic in however it was so sunny out that the pic is too damn bright, however it shows that one side of the connector is half burned out.

So where to now? Is this a blower or something else? Thanks,

Joel

OK, just got this message. I will check that fuse tomorrow but I thought that a burned and charred connector might not work afterwards. Will post again after checking the fuse.

Hi Gang,

OK, the 40AMP fuse for the Front Blower checks out fine with a MultiMeter. I plugged it back in and checked the wire again, nothing. Let me run down what I am doing so that I am clear that I am doing the check correctly.

I am pulling the green/black wire connector from the "block" that it is in and I am putting the multimeter on the "50 DC V" setting and then I start the engine, turn on the HVAC power and put the red lead on the green wire and the black to a ground source and get nothing on the meter. I even placed the red lead on the exposed metal where the side of the plugged burned and melted away. Thanks,

Joel

OK, so then by looking at this, then I am testing it properly. My concern is that the connector from the Blower Motor is melted and charred. So if I get nothing from it and the connector is fried, does this mean I need a new blower? Or does it mean I need a new blower and there is something else that fried it?

Also, just in case, can someone refer me to a thread that tells me how to find, and replace the resistor?

Thanks, Joel

the resistor is less tehn 6 inches from the location of teh connector that u took out of the blower motor. drop the glove box and its right there with 4 wires comming out of it and 2 screws holding it to teh HVAC housing.

OK, still trying to sort this out. There is nothing at all coming from testing the wire. So I am reporting two problems; one the connector is charred and burned and melted (I have no idea how) and two there is no voltage at all coming from the green wire. So What would I look for next?

Also, I was told by a parts store today that the resistor, relay, blower motor are all dealer only parts. Is that correct? If so, can you tell me where I could get the numbers from.

What should I check next? Does the charred wire mean the motor is blown? This thing had got me in check.

Joel
