Default 2004 Grand Voyager Auto clutch slipping

Hi All,

My 2004 Grand Voyager has a problem with the auto transmission.

The gearbox takes a couple of seconds to engage from standstill - getting worse each time!

It started just first thing in the morning and now it seems to be at every junction!

Press the accelerator and it just revs for a bit before eventually engaging.

Any ideas would be great please guys?

Cheers in advance

Fluid level good? A fluid (ATF+4) and filter change fixes a surprising number of slipping problems.

Thanks Raptor, I'll check.

Excuse my incredible ignorance but where can I find the filter?
(I'm pretty dumb when it comes to cars!)

Cheers

The oil filter is inside the oil pan of the tranny.

Hey, talk about an international effort, Italy, California and the UK (??).

Yes, you have to remove the fluid pan to change the filter. If you're not mechanically gifted it can turn into a real mess. Here in the US a fluid and filter change can cost anywhere from $60 to $100 at a shop. I'm thinking that's around 40 - 60 BPs. Make sure they use ATF+4 fluid.

Here, in Italy, the fluid (Mopar ATF+4) costs 25€ /L in the Chrysler shop!!! It means that for a complete fluid change you need about 200€ plus the filter (40€) plus labor.... They are mads!!!

Thanks everyone!! I'll have a chat with my "friend" who is a mechanic (no such thing as "mates rates" with him) so that he knows that I know I probably dont need a new gearbox ;-)

Cheers again all
