2005 T&C intermitten Blower
I searched thru the forum and have not found this specific problem. I have a 2005 T&C Touring with rear air. Intermittently, the front blower will not run. It simply stays off no matter what I do. I've tried turning the climate control system on and off, turnign the A/C on and off, restarting the van, running the switches and knobsthru their ranges of operation - hot to cold and back, fan high to low and back,, turnign on and offthe auto temp controletc. Nothing can make it work. Usually after 5-10 miutes - longer lately - the blower will start working. Once working, it behaves normally with full control of the speed range. Once or twice I have noticed no increase in speed when selecting the recirculation setting.
The rear blower works all the time with no problem.
I've looked for info on how to pull the blower to test it but have found nothing. I've also looked for a blower resistor/capacitor but no one seems to have heard of it, if it exists.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you have the Climate control, then you have a 98 dollar fan control or if you have the manual AC you have 20 dollar resistor, either way you can access it by emptying the glove box, pulling the two retaining ears inward on each side of the glove box door andletting it swivel out and down so that you can get behind it. You should see the item you are looking for just above the fan motor. it has two connectors leading to it and two 8mm screws holding it in place. I replaced mine in the parking lot of the dealer with just an 8mm (5/16") nut driver in less than 5 minutes.
Thanks for the input JeepandAVan but the plot thickens a bit. I dropped the glove Box tonight to look aT thinGs since Napa shows a resistor for a front auto-AC configuration. While there, I ran a test. When I turned the van on then the blower. As expected, nothing happened. I wiggled some wires and again nothing. I then lightly tapped the moter housing with the back end of a screw driver and the motor tookoff running. I can repeat this everytime. My thinking is that this points to the fan motor itself. It seems the motor has a dead zone that can be overcome with a vibration/jarring that ever so slightly starts the core turning. As the motor will randonly start while driving, it seems that just the right bump in the road starts the motor turning. From then on, its all good.
btw, once the fan does start there is no unusualy noises to be heard.
Any thoughts from those who maybe able to confirm this theory..or those who can shoot holes in it.

That motor you tapped on under the RH is the damper motor for the auto temp sensor... The blower motor is mounted inside, above that housing. if you get down there and change the temperature for the pass side you can hear it move. so don't whack it too hard

There is no resistor in the climate control model but a more expensive fan control unit mounted in it's place. in my 01, it is right behind the glove box and only took 5 min to replace and 98 dollars out of my checking account...
