Default 2006 T&C 3.8 tick tick after startup

Hi,
I looking at a used T&C tonight w/ the 3.8L engine. Don't know how long it was sitting but when I started it, it gave a tick tick for just a few seconds which sounded like lifter noise to me (or lack of oil to lifters). Van has 40k miles on it. Is this a concern? I did not check oil level and condition. THis was a lease vehicle and the motor as well as the rest of the vehicle was very clean.

Thanks

I own an 03 w/3.8 engine. It does the same thing at every cold start, goes away after a few seconds. I have 78,000 trouble free miles and change the oil every 3-3500 miles. I would not be concerned.

Thanks C Tech.. I was hoping you would chime in. Is this a check valve problem in the filters then? THe mopar's have the check valve or the other way around? I'll check it if I decide to buy it.

that's interesting, I use Mopar or Napa Gold exclusively with 10w-30 Valvoline. It doesn't seem to make a difference. Always a slight tick for maybe 2 seconds on a cold start during the cold months. I don't seem to notice once the weather starts to warm up.

Use an oil filter with a check valve built in.
Motorcraft FL1A fits perfectly and holds more oil than many others...

i have same van and have same sound at first... i bought new and really maintain all my vehicles ...use mopar filters now but see no change with the purs i used to run.... van began to burn oil at 50000 and fried the cat at 70000... changed valve seals after new cat and now burns less but have to run 10w 40 dino to keep less than 1 qt per 1500 miles.... now with 162000 on it it runs strong but i am sure cat will go again oneday soon.. trans is beginning to do funny things but i must say other than the oil burn its been a pretty good ride
