2011 T&C Rear AC Blower Whine
While on my last road trip, my rear AC blower developed a whine that seems to reduce in loudness with the higher blower settings, but never really goes away unless the AC is turned off.
I have to admit, when we first started to notice the noise, I tried to ignore it, thinking it would go away. We didn’t know it was the blower.
Once we pulled over to see where it was coming from, we noticed the intake air vent was virtually blocked.
So, the question is, what did I fry? A bearing?
The AC still works, but it’s annoying.

It's possible the connection between the drive motor and the squirrel cage fan itself is slipping and creating the whine. I think it's a D-shaped drive shaft rotating in a piece of plastic, but it's been a while since I changed out my blower. Anyway those details don't really matter, what matters is it will probably continue and get worse until you replace it. It's not that bad of a job, just digging around up under/behind the glove box to get things apart. You just have to figure out when the noise is more annoying than replacing it

Are you in a high dust area? Look closely at the intake grill in the rear corner, Dust and grime like to accumulate in there and will cause a whine. I have a 5 gal. portable air compressor and yearly blow out the gunk(rear hatch open). keeps mine(and 2 past vans) nice and quiet. IF you want to go involved, take the quarter molding off and the rear HVAC is readily available for closer inspection....Good Luck!
