Hi everyone, I hope someone out there can help us. We have a '94 Town and Country and it's having some issues.

After the 2nd gear in the tranny completely went, hubby replaced it with a used one under warranty. It ran fine for about a week - then it stalled out on me after hitting the gas after a red light. It had started right back up and I made it home without further incident.

But as the days passed, it got progressively worse and the stalling happened more frequently. I'd hit the gas after a red light, the engine would die, I'd start it back up and it would be fine until I had to stop at a red light again. Then it started stalling out just making a right hand turn then any turn. When I finally got it back to the house the last time, it died while in gear around 30 MPH and I barely made it to my driveway coasting it.

Now it won't even leave driveway. It starts up, idles fine in neutral and in 1st gear, but the instant you hit the gas, it dies.

Anyone out there have any ideas of what to look for to replace? My hubby (who's mechanically inclined) is stumped by this one. I'd appreciate any and all suggestions. After this month, our family gets a new addition and we won't be able to fit in the car together anymore, we really need our van back! :-)

 

So this happned after the tranny was replaced and not before? Are there any vacuum lines running to the tranny? Has he checked all wires and hose to make sure everthing is hooked back up? How is theair cleaner? Has the throttle body ever been cleaned? How is the fuel filter?

 

Hubby thinks he found the problem, the catalytic converter is rattling when he tapped it while idling. Hope this is the culprit!
