AC compressor replacement ?
Hi
My AC compressor froze up and burned the serpentine belt away. I drove to my final vacation destination another 30 km without it just on battery power.
Disconnected the AC compressor by removing the drive rubber ring , found a replacement belt and was able to come back home with only 1 day delay.
Now my questions: 1) is there any oil in the compressor that might now be in the system ? 2) If there is oil in the system from it, does this need to be flushed out somehow ? 3 ) or is it just a AC compressor removal/installation + refill of the system ? 4) I have 2 options, a used compressor with unknown km ( miles ) for 65 Euros or a new one not original from fleeBay for 160 Euros ?
I do not intend to keep this car ( 1996 grand Voyager 2,5 Diesel ) for much longer. Might be replaced within 1 year .

Disregarding your plans for the van I would opt for complete system flush. Oil isn't the problem now. Most likely the compressor seized due to lack of oil. The real problem is the potential metal debris in the system caused by the added wear. Without a flush you're risking destroying the new compressor.
With your plans in mind it might make financial sense if you do all the work. If you're paying to have it done it gets iffy.

Hi
I never refilled the compressor, again due to un-knowledge that this is required. Flushing the system is done how ? Backwards I guess to assure not to pump anything any further downstream ? With compressed air ? As little as I know, there should also be a ddryer installed that needs replacement. Is that correct ?
Sorry for so many questions, I simply don't know the system and as you correctly already realized, don't want to pay a fortune to a garage .
